I bought the kiyoseki straightener six months ago and loved it. I could even see an improvement in the texture of my hair with less breakage. It had shine and body.

But after five months, it suddenly stopped working and would no longer turn on. I tried to get a replacement and the customer service rep took my information to send me another one. After two weeks without getting the replacement, I called again and the other rep said they lost my information and to call back in a few days. I know now that it has happened to others too!

I cannot believe I was gullible enough to fall for the infomercial. I even did my research but had no idea it would be this bad. I will never invest so much money in a tv product again!

I, like the many here, purchased the Kiyoseki after viewing the informertial over and over. My daughters and I loved it since we have thick and curly hair. We loved it until it went "crazy" with changing temps and finally just stopped working. I have tried to contact the company but get the "we are experiencing heavy call volumes" line. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I will be contacting the BBB to report this company.

I've been wanting the Kiyoseki for along time now, and I FINALLY got it on Christmas morning, andddd they said it's supposed to protect against humidity? Well, where I'm from, it's EXTREMELY humid here and today, my hair went flat and looked just....gross. I don't know if I need to just practice with it more or if it really isn't worth the moneyyyy.

Love it!! my friend bought it. the thing is this product is mostly for very thick curly hair not straight hair and you just want it to iron your hair no. My friend and myself live in miami which is very humid and we both have very! curly hair and it works like magic.

I bought this hair straightener in June, and I have been using it ever since. While I have had problems with accidentally turning up the temp. a couple degrees, I've learned to just glance and make sure the temp. is correct each time I put it to my hair. I love how fast it heats up and it makes my hair really shiny and full of volume. I would recommend this straightener to people as long as they are careful and keep an eye on the heat setting.

Piece of crap - singes hair

After having my Chi give out after 2 years, I bought the Kiyoseki because it was lightweight and claimed to provide more styling options (curls, volume). I have used it twice and hate it because of the way my hair feels after I use it. With the Chi, my hair is silky and soft, the Kiyoseki makes it feel coarse and dry. The temperature control is poorly placed and its easy to accidentally hit the temp increase without realizing it. I couldn't understand why I smelled burnt hair - then looked and the temp had gone up to 450 degrees without realizing it. I am throwing out this piece of crap, and buying another Chi.

Of course once again I got suckered...saw the infomercial and had to have it. I've pretty much been there and done that with flat irons. At first...It seemed to be going great. My hair was exactly the way I wanted it. But the (2) downfalls about this product, which I consider very dissapointing is the way it would snag strands of my hair as I was clamping down. How irritating is that? It would be 2 strands at a time. Friggin' irritating! And as I was clamping down to straighten hair I would always touch the tempurature button which would cause delay to change it back. Now what could of been in a 1/2 hour is now an hour. Totally defeats the purpose of purchasing a flat iron that would cut your time in half. Yeah right. I have recently purchased a CHI and way, way, way better....Love it, Mean it!

Saw the infomercial, had to have it. i was scared to use it after reading reviews, but followed the directions very carefully. I played with the settings until I figured out that 350 worked perfect, didn't have to do more than one p****and didn't have to leave on hair long. I also was very careful on hand placement. I always use a heat protectant, and I do not put any "shine" products until after i have styled, to prevent burning. After about 30 days, the temp started fluctuating everytime I touch the plates together. it would go way over 400 degrees. this isn't because of anything I did. luckily I caught it immediately, and stopped using it. don't know if I can get my money back, even though I did purchase the warranty, but I don't care to have a product that is so tempermental. You can say all you want to follow directions, I did that. my fingers weren't anywhere near the buttons. they were where they were supposed to be. It seems to me that more of these are defective than not. I would definately not purchase this one.

I have VERY, VERY thick African-American hair. This is truly an amazing flat-iron
when used properly. Heat damages hair, there is nothing that will change about that. Make sure you use the proper heat protectants, temperatures, and stylers that help minimize this damage. And please, **DON'T WRITE A REVIEW IF YOU HAVE NEVER USED THE KIYOSEKI** REVIES ARENT BASED ON FEELINGS OR WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK OR WHAT YOU THING ABOUT OTHER'S OPINIONS***YOU HAVE TO USE IT TO REVIEW IT!!!***

DO NOT BUY. I bought this stupid hair damaging Kiyoseki back in the summer. I loved it at first, it worked great. My mom and friends loved it so much they purchased them too. Then last week as I was doing my hair the temp went up by itself and singed my hair. I now have a whole top layer of hair that is completely singed. It is HORRIBLE and unfixable. Now the stupid thing wont even turn on. What a waste of 120 dollars not to mention the hundreds it's going to cost me to try and make my own hair now look presentable.

I didn't feel like it was working the way the infomercial said it would, when I called the company they said that to get the best results I had to use the special shampoo, conditioner and spray that they sell - that was when I decided that I didn't want the styler and returned it.

My daughter requested this iron as a Christmas present. I've never seen the infomercial or didn't even know who to spell it. I've asked around to everyone I know and finally someone told me "KIYOSEKI - the BEST flat iron EVER! After reading the reviews, I am terribly afraid for my daughter to use it. It appears that there are more negative reviews than positive ones. Should I return the iron before trying it? Should I tell my daughter that I couldn't find the correct spelling and leave it at that? I really thought I was doing something nice. I would hate to have it ruin my daughters hair! She would never forgive me! HELP!!

I also, like many of you have said already, never buy from infomercials but I had left my straightener at a hotel on vacation and was about to buy a new one when I saw the infomercial. I absolutely loved it...I dont have that thick of hair and I even used it at 400 degrees and my hair never felt so great. However, after about a month or so It stopped working...just wouldn't turn on. So I called the company and they sent me a return label and I sent mine back. They sent me another one and the same thing happened...just stopped working.

I bought it. It quit working right about 60 days. I contacted this company twice and was told they would send me a label to return the styler. Never got either one and then they "mysteriously" lost all record of my first contact call and said that it was now too late to give me a refund. RUN!!!

i was thinking about my hair texture, and that i wanted a better straightener for it. i saw the kiyoseki on guthy renker and fell in love. i thought it was perfect until i started reading these. i currently use a revlon perfect heat straightener, and it sucks. it doesnt straighten your hair and makes it frizzy. i dont think i'm buying the kiyoseki now that i see that it melted someone's hair. my hair is somewhat short already, and i dont want to have to cut any off.

Follow Directions Precisely and Practice
Product Rating: 4.00 out of 5 reviewed by Chrissy Muffuletto from Apache Junction (Phoenix), Arizona, on Nov 27, 2008

I watched the ad on TV until it burned a whole in my pocketbook. I had to have it. I think it's a great investment. The directions tell you to do the ends of the hair first. This is where the hair is most porous, especially if you are chemically treating your hair or if you live in a dry climate. You don't want to put excess heat on the ends. Make sure you have the right setting for the thickness of you hair.

It is true that the temperature control could have been placed in a different position so that you don't accidentally touch it and change the setting. This was not a wise decision on their behalf, but if you remember to keep your thumb and fingers on the pink pads this problem should soon be remedied.

Remember to take small sections of hair starting at the scalp. If you want more volume, iron that area of the hair straight up or at a slight angle back and then slowly curve the iron so that you are now moving in a downward motion. If you are straightening the hair, hold the end of the section of hair in one hand as you pull the iron smoothly to the end and then let go.

I have had the most difficult hair to style that most hairdressers have ever worked with. The style looks beautiful in the salon but when I leave the curls loosen or it falls flat...lol.

The problem I have with the Kiyoseki is curling my hair. I have to review the DVD until I get it.

The two products that come with the iron and very helpful. #3 you spray on your damp hair, dry it to the desired degree (I like mine a little damp, it's easier to work with. The #4 spray is a shine product for aftr the styling. Use it sparingly or you will look like an oil slick.

When I take my time and follow the directions to the tee..My hair looks great and stays for days. I read a comment about someone melting their hair. The first thing that came to mind was that her pair was severly overprocssed or made of mylon like a wig. If the hair melts like that, the lower temperature is the best way to go. If you are trying to keep the heat on too long to get done faster, you're making a mistake and can burn your hair. Thank God for scissors.

I still think this is the best flat iron I have ever used. Another tip, don't use too many hair products on your hair at the ame time, especially if you are straightening it. It can make your hair sticky and cling to the iron. I hope this helps. Happy Ironing.
