my sister was visiting in california when she had her hair yukoned at a salon. she told the guy everything about her hair in terms of coloring and ironing. after she was done he told her not to put any hairbands etc. in her hair and not to wash it for three days. she waited 4 days, and when sh finally washed it, her hair was so damaged and frizzy like never before. totally destroyed. it was in a much better condition before she had it done. is this normal or did the guy do something wrong? it is a professional salon but could he have messed something up? please let me know as i'm very worried. thanks, noha

I have a high powered straightner and have been using it for about half a month. I have long blind hair. I was wondering if I straightened my hair everyday without using protection just really good shampoo and conditioner would my hair get damaged? When I come out of the shower an blowdry my hair , when it is dry it has this oily substance caoted on it . When I straighten it it looks greasy. Is this normal??? Should I use different shampoo? Is straightening my hair every day going to ruin it??

Ok, I have a ProCeramic hair flat iron & just recently I haven't been able to get it to turn on. I've tried hitting the 'test' button and the 'reset' button, but nothing works. Any suggestions? This was a very expensive flat iron & since I'm only 12 my mom isn't going to buy me a new one. Again, any suggestions as to how to fix my flat iron.

yeah i had a chi and that happened to mine. it was still in warranty, which lasts about a year after you get it, so i just took it up to the place i got it and they replaced it

hi, ive heard about permanent hair straightening and i wanted to give it a try. but i dont know what price range they run in and if it really works? please help!!! thanks
vikki's Reply:
Katie - don't let anyone permanently straighten your hair. I looked into that, too, and discovered that, due to the chemical used, the solution has to be put no closer than two inches from your scalp. I cannot even imagine what that would look like, to have curly fuzz around your face for two inches, and then stick straight hair. I've used the Maxiglide for a couple of years and really like it, but you have to learn how to use it so you don't get stick straight, boring hair. My maxiglide just broke (I don't know why, it did not get dropped, but the housing cracked apart) I just heard about a product called Mixed Chicks (be sure to google on "mixed chicks hair products" so you don't get something offensive!! Good luck..........

should I get a Variable Temperature or Automatic Sense Control System on a flat iron, which would be the best for hair?

My daughter has a Chi straightening iron. She now tells me that it is not staying hot. She has long very thick hair. What brand would be best for her.
Sarah's Reply:
I would suggest the Corioliss. I have thick hair and it works really well for me. All the straighteners work really well, they also have a wet to dry which works on damp hair.

I dont really know that much about hair straightening. What straightener do you recommend best for thick wavy hair. Also, how does straightening your hair when it is wet hurt your hair, if at all?
lily's Reply:
I have very thinck wavy hair, and i have a chi, it was pretty expensive... but it works really well and its one of the straighteners that does the least damage to your hair. DO NOT straighten your hair when its still wet, it will fry it, just blow/air dry it all before you straighten it.

I have a spiral perm and would like to straighten it occasionally. Will this ruin my perm? What product(s) should I use? How can I make the perm come back if I am to straighten it?
kristin's Reply:
As far as I know your perm will come back when you wash your hair. just heating it will not ruin your perm. Just make sure you use products that will not damage your hair. You have to be careful because it has been chemically permed

I purchased a Corioliss Staightner on Dec. 11,2007 and it has turned an awful yellow color. Nothing has been used on the hair while using the staightner. I would like a replacement, but it seems as though I can't find a phone number on any of the paperwork that was in the box when the straightner was purchased less than 3 months ago.
lily's Reply:
yeah i would get a new straightener, and contact corioliss, to get your money back but i wouldnt get a corioliss straightener again. you should use heat protectant spray, i use TRESemme which works pretty well.

I was viewing the straightener of my dreams in your web site but I was then confused about where could I buy it online (I may also add I need Europe delivery). The specific product was the "Heavy Duty - Proffesional hair Straightener", but I do not find it anywhere else on the net (I think I cannot buy it from this site, is that right?). Thank you in advance for your time and effort. I also give you the exact link: http://www.hairstraightening.net/headut54.html

amy's Reply:
i guess it depends alittle on the brand of japanese straightener is being used, but there are very specific parameters that the stylists are looking for in your hair. walking around in tokyo looking to get it done 3 or four stylists refused me flat out becuase i have caucasian hair. did finally find a really nice salon to get it at. someone that uses YUKO is good. KEEP IN MIND THOUGH THAT THIS CAN BE VERRRRY DAMAGING TO YOUR HAIR SO YOU SHOULD LET ANYTHING DAMAGED GROW OUT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE (OR CUT IT OFF)

take back to the place you got it from. most likely it will have a warranty, and just tell them the problem that it has and they will give you a new one.
