by ragen from kansas on May 28, 2008

i got my hair permantly straightened it totally worked, and i recomend it!!! it works for african americans and whites too...it has lasted for months

by HaX from baltimore md on May 18, 2008

okay so I have been straightening my hair every day for over a year now
(i'm a guy btw)
i guess you can say i have the "emo" hairstyle

I get my hair chemically straightened every now and then and if the stylist is good they will not damage your hair

and if you're one of the people that flat irons every day i'd recommend using
tresemme thermal creations straightening gel(google it)

just dab on your hand and apply to hair like shampoo and your hair will smell very good and will be very protected against heat

I used to have straight/wavy hair.. then i made a dumb choice and permed it and i HATE IT! i have been straightening my hair everyday since i got it ( couple months ago) and im going to ruin my hair. would straightening it permanently ruin it more? i have long blonde hair.. would i have to cut it?

i got my hair straightened about 1 year ago. It costed me around $350. The actual straightening costed $260. The other $90 was 4 a hair trim, shampoo & conditioner (that i didn't need), & hair serum. But it all depends where you go, live, & sales taxes. I suggest if u get your hair striaghtened, don't let your hair stylist talk you into buying all kind of hair products unless you know you need it. Also, make sure you get hair serum because it makes your hair feel really soft. It's worth paying a lot. btw You have to redo it every 6-12 months depending how you take care of your hair & type of your hair. If you have an regular iron straightener you may need it, if you don't go out & buy 1. Even if it was permanently straightened, your new roots may be curly. Apply serum right before or after you flat iron your hair. I suggest after. DON'T USE AN IRON & IRONING BOARD!!! It'll ruin your hair & new roots. It takes moisture out of you hair. If you do, no use using serum because not even that will make it soft.

I straighten my hair evrery day and I'm really tired of it. It takes me like 40 min and when it rains it looks even worse then when its curly. I don't know if I should get it permanatly straightened because I've heard that it can get really damaged and that then you have to cut off several inches intil it grows back. What should I do???

so i used to have beautiful thick curly hair although it was a little poofy, and at the time i hated it and thought it was sooo ugly and poofy. then i got it chemically/permanently straightened. The first time i got it done i loved it. After my hair was long and thin and straight, not poofy. 5 months later the roots grew in so curly so i got it straightened again. This time my hair was so damaged from getting it perm. straightened the first time , they had to cut inches off. Its since been seven months. I spend an 1 1/2 hours on my hair strightening it every morning . Its so damaged and short and falls out and i am trying to grow it back out to its natural beautiful healthy curls. Sure i got attention and compliments and easy hair for four months but now i regret it horribly and am suffering consequences for way more than its worth. I don't recommend it at all!!!!!!!!!!

Umm, well, I haven't gone in for Permanant Straightning myself coz, my hair ain't that bad. They arn't gr8, but, I can manage. Well, I've gone through a few other sites and if you want my advice, I'd say, DO NOT go in for permanant straightning. Your hair might look good for a certain time...but, then, once the effect goes...you are left with the worst hair ever! And, it costs soooo much! Well, at the end of the day, it's your choice.

by jenna from Oklahoma on Feb 5, 2008

i got my hair permenantly straightened three years ago. before it was very very thick, poofy and curly. people asked if i had a black parent because it was so curly.(i have very light blue green eyes and skin) after getting it straightened it was about five inches longer and a lot thinner. it also took away 3/4 of the curl. it only takes me 15-20 minutes in the morning to fix it! i recomend it!
