I WANT TO GET MY HAIR PERMANENTLY STRAIGHTENED, DO OVER THE COUNTER JAPANESE THERMAL STRAIGHTENERS WORK JUST AS WELL? IS IT REALLY PERMANENT? DO I STILL NEED TO STRAIGHTEN EVERY DAY? HOW BAD DOES IT DAMAGE THE HAIR? I HAVE A NEWBORN AND I JUST WANT TO GET UP AND GO!

Some answers on Permanant Straightning,
YES; Exspensive but worth every penny if U hate spending hours straightning it every morning and hiding from moisture every day and feeling down about YR hair everytime U go swimming.
YES; It does damage YR hair, and with someone proffessional or not, who doesn't know what they R doing, BUT so does getting a sun tan in summer damage YR skin but we still like the look, we just use conditioning products 2 fix it.
YES; Any chemical treatment can B classed as really bad 4 U, but everything always depends on the correct diognosis of the hair and choice of the product and the proper procedure in processing of the treatment. Look we R only human and sometimes our hair doesn't do the normal reaction like a majority of hair does.
NOT SURE; Age of having this treatment done depends on the insurance cover each place has and if they personally have a limit, U must ask all.
YES; After chemical straightning the hair feels thinner and lighter and lookes straighter when wet, and has a lot less frizz when dry than B4, BUT U still have 2 blowdry a little 4 pin straight hair, we R going against the natural movement of the hair so a very small amount of touching up still needed and yes U may use straightning irons after drying but always use as many heat protecting and good conditioning products as needed and very regular trimming of dead ends.ONLY TRIMMING THE ENDS MIND U
YES; In very very curly frizzy hair, alot of the time U may need another treatment 2 get closer 2 YR exspectation of smoother hair. And hair can B treated again but YR hair elasticity must B checked it is strong enough 2 take it, if not proper treatments 2 speed the health of the hair up. No possible time given as to how long till next chemical , it's always up 2 YR hairs strength and so many other factors U would have 2 look up in 2 a hair tricologists opinion.
NO; Don't have this procedure done if YR hair keeps falling out or YR scalp is playing up in any form, U must check YR self with a hair tricoloygist first not a hairdresser.
NO; This treatment should not B attempted by YR self at home, it really needs a hairdresser who knows what they R doing, leaving it miniutes 2 long could mean YR hair would snap off, or wrong way of ironing or over pulling 2 hard during application could do the same result. When the products R used U do not go under any machines or anything but the process is quite a few hours in some cases.
LOOK HAIR STRAIGHTNING; it's brilliant 4 loads of people in many ways and yes it's exspensive and yes every time YR hair groes, obviously YR natural is coming through so U have 2 redo again. And yes it's damaging but how much do U really want 2 look and have straight or straightish or wavy hair? R U prepaired 2 have the straightening done at the price it costs? then why do U not want 2 use the treatments 2 keep it looking good. 4 example, would U have a brilliant sun tan but dried and wrinkeled up skin with it? NO; So with chemicals to look their best U must use serums and treatments 2 give the maximum result U R looking 4.DON'T have massive exspectations of dead straight hair 4 eva, if that was the case then chemical straightning would cost over £1000-00 pounds and done under general anisthetic with doctors only not hair dressers.
One piece of hair under a microscope B4 process looks like a rod with fish scales on the outside, open and messy looking in alot of cases, after the straightining, under the microscope, the scales look closed tight. Now when they were open YR hair looked puffy and they give the elusion of loads of hair, but after when they R flat, it gives room 4 the other hair 2 move closer 2 each other and the scales being flatter on the surface gives the elusion of smooth glass, hence YR hair feels thinner and shinner 2 the look.
OK hope this helps a lot of questions good luck.

I got my hair straightened right before my trip to New Orleans in June 08. I have shoulder length kinky curly hair and it cost me $300. BEFORE: I would straighten my hair everyday with a flat iron and the second I went outside it would frizz and curl up again. I always wear my hair in ponytail or bun most of the year because I hated my frizzy, curly hair and couldnt do anything withi it. AFTER: I still have to straighten it as before but IT STAYS straight!!!! SO, even though my hair is still wavy and I still have to blow dry it straight- I doesnt frizz up when I go outside. For me, the $300 was worth it. Dont be fooled by the perfectly straight "after" pictures, the hair isnt that stright right out of the shower and you still have to run a flat iron or hair dryer through it to get it perfectly straight. Also, my roots have grown out about an inch and a half and my roots are still very curly. You have to get the process done again on the new growth with will costs another couple of hundred dollars so make sure you factor in the "maintenance" costs if you are considering doing this.

by kindra from california on Aug 28, 2008

well, i got my hair permanently straitend and it last about 4 months. but it all depends on ur hair type. it cost about 50-100 at supercuts and it looks awsome!

The Bio Ionic Hair Straightening system really works. I had unruly frizz and unmanagemable waves and curls throughout my hair. My hair (after the treatment) is soft, silky, manageable, and straight. Although an expensive straightening it is well worth it. I had tried numerous straightening products and systems in the past - even a flat iron on a daily basis. My hair never looked or felt as good as it does now. It is well worth the money to have this done.

Hi, i have very curly & rough hair.i am planning to do chemical hair straightening.i have also bought hair straightener.Since i am planning to do this process at home ,please suggest which brand &also the name of the lotions n neutraliser etc...... which is used for chemical hair straightening.

by Ashleigh from New Zealand on Aug 17, 2008

Permanently straightning should not damage your hair if your hair stylst knows what they are doing, the only way your hair is going to get damaged is if the neutraliser stays in you hair too long, this is how the hair gets damaged.

i have naturally curly frizzy hair..and i absolutly hate it! i used a natural realxer and it didnt reely work. it doesnt make ur hair straight..it jst loosens the curls. the only thing that actually makes your hair pin straight is getting it chemically straightened(thats wat my stylist said) i play softball everyday at skool and during sumer so i have to wash my hair everyday so i always have to wake up early for skool jst to straighten it. ur stylist should be able to tell u if the chemical straightening will ruin ur hair. if u have VERY dry hair dont get it permanetly straightend..my friend did that and now her hair looks like straw and is reely ugly! my mom wont let me get my hair straightend but i would if she let me.

try this to make your hair healthier, shinier and stronger:
heat up 1/4 a cup of olive oil in the microwave for 30sec-apply to dry hair-leave in for 15minutes and put a plastic cap or warm towel over your hair-wash it out
i have been doing this to my hair 3times a week for a month or 2 and i have noticed such a big difference in my hair(: hope this will help you!
