These work HORRIBLE! I have the mini and the regular and they suck. When I go to the salon I get beautifully straightened hair, when I use my maxiglides I get poofy frizzy hair. I have GREAT Paul Mitchell and nexus hair products. DON'T waste ur money...and yeah I have the DVD and all of that nonsense. This just sucks!

my review and some advice

PLEASE READ. I KNOW ITS LONG BUT ITS IMPORTANT. I got the maxiglide for christmas last year. I loved it for about 6 months, and I would use it at least once a week. If not, more. After about six months, I noticed my hair started to break off. I was using heat protectant serum, and putting it on the lowest setting possible. My hair would also get frizzy. I started to lay off on the straightening for a while to let my curly hair grow out before i start using the maxiglide again. But yesterday, I used my old straightener that I had before I got my maxiglide, and I used a new serum, John Freida Frizz-Ease hair serum. My hair is beautiful and shiny, and doesn't get frizzy. My advice is, if you are going to use it once a week or more, I suggest you don't buy this product. If you are going to use it for special occasions or once a month, I suggest you do buy this product. I just don't want anyone to go through what I had to go through with my hair. My hair broke off on the bottom, right above my ears, and in the front. But, if you use hair serum, I highly suggest using John Fried Frizz-Ease hair serum, because when i used my maxiglide, I used Gardiner Fructis hair serum, and my hair would come out frizzy and i would always have to wear it in a ponytail. After I used John Frieda, I could wear my hair down and it was so soft! So, those are my suggestions and advice. I hope this helps!

I am 44 and have struggled with my very fragile, very curly fine hair all my life. I have had MG for 3 years (and have not had any problesm with it) and I cannot imagine living without it. I use it every day, it straightens perfectly. I agree with others - if you hate it it can ONLY be because you aren't using it correctly. I have turned so many people onto it and they all LOVE it.Be patient - it will take you a while to get the hang of it but once you do it is like magic. I have to go over each piece of my hair three times - but I don't mind as I can do my whole head in 10 minutes now. I do it twice quickly (and it still is a bit poufy) but the magic comes on the third p****which I do very slowly. It is miraculous -- to think I used to spend OVER an hour blow drying!

I have thick coarse curly hair and my daughter is even worse. This straightener made it a reasonable task to keep three heads of hair straight(mine is down my back and my kids are black with untreated hair). I used the flat iron almost daily for 3 years and it broke after putting it in my luggage on a flight. I tried a few other straighteners but do not get the same result and nothing compares to how fast this straightens. Average professional takes about 40 minutes to flatten my hair and it is not as smooth as with the maxiglide. I can straighten 3 feet of hair in about 20 min. I love it any anyone I ever let use it loved it. The only complaint is the cord doesn't swivel. That would make it perfect. The free miniglide is useless though. I do however love the styling products. The end is amazing.

I bought the first maxiglide about 3 yrs. ago and used it 1-2 times a week. I loved it like a new boyfriend, but then it wouldnt heat up. So, I bought the xp maxiglide. It works a little better, has a 2yr warranty insead of a 1yr., and its bigger. The first one took 3 yrs to break. Most break down in a matter of months and dont do a good job anyway. Good look April.

I've been using Maxiglide for at least 3 or 4 years now. I LOVE it. I have naturally curly thick course hair, the maxiglide gives me the straight, shiny sleek hair that I've always wanted.
Using this straightener daily like I do and have little or no damage, is amazing. I've tried others and all those others are in the garbage, the Maxiglide rocks!! Girls with curls can now take a break and go sleek!!!

The maxiglide works great, but after having it for 10 months, the "teeth" plate broke so now I have to use the smooth one

I bought this straightener over Thanksgiving. When I got it, I loved it. The steaming system worked great on my hair. I have extremely thick, naturally curly hair and the MaxiGlide gave me the sleek, straight hair that I wanted....for a while. I didn't even have it a year before it wouldn't heat up. The straightener would get "lukewarm" but it was too cold to even straighten the smallest strand of hair. I loved it and was very disappointed. It was a waste of money.

Hey, I'm 15 and I bought the maxiglide about a year ago. I still have it. My hairs REALLY CURLY and frizzt and I straighten my hair everyday. Now the maxiglide is good. It takes me about an hour and a half to do it which isn't what they really say. It does tend to dry out my hair and it rips it out but idk, maybe it's me. A lot of hair comes out of the "teeth" plate. I mean it works, but I think there is better.

Thinking of buying this

I have not bought this yet but have been looking at straighteners for my Mom to get me for Xmas. =]. I don't want her to spend much money but all the $30 && $40 dollar ones do not work for me, and my hair is just wavy and gets frizzy. I think I am going to buy this, even though people are saying it pulls out your hair but honestly, dont they all?! The one i have now has hair stuck on it at times. Also, one that i had a long time ago that was a lot of money and was suppose to work really well, stopped working in only a year, so most don't last that long anyways. Well if this does not work I will just buy the Sedu one myself. Wish me luck!

I bought my Maxiglide 2 years ago! OMG! I love it. I have very thick, curly, frizzy hair and I could NEVER get that nice smooth look like at the hair salon. Now with my Maxiglide, my hair looks like I just went to the salon every day!

I bought the Maxiglide about 3 years ago and I love it. I have 4 daughters, all with very diffrent types of curly hair, and this product is amaizing. I read some negative reviews about this product and how it broke someone's hair. You have to know what works best for your hair. One of my daughters and I have thin hair so we use the regular plate. My 3 other daughters have thick hair and I use the plate with the "teeth". it works great. My teenage daughter recently got a flatiron for her birthday. She used it once and refuses to use it again because she loves the maxiglide. I would recommend it to everyone.

I purchased my maxiglide about 4 years ago. I LOVE it. I LOVE it. I LOVE it. I recommend it to everyone. It is the only hot iron I have ever used and will not even bother trying any other. The best thing is your hair doesn't look stiff like others I've seen. I have received so many compliments. Thank You Maxiglide!

I owned my maxiglide for about 5 years and I broke it the other day. I went to wal mart and bought a cheaper straightener and am returning it because nothing compares to this product. I am going to do what I should have done the day i broke my maxiglide...buy another one!!! I love it!!! I have naturally curly, puffy hair and it makes mine smooth and straight! For those of you saying it pulls your hair out you are using it WRONG! It is you, not the product that has the problem. I would recommend this product sine I will be bguying again.

I just purchased the maxi glide a little scared because there was some bad reviews but i love it! I recommend watching the dvd it gives great tips and tells you exactly how to work everything. I did have to go through my hair more than once but it looks great and the steam made it really soft and straight. I would definitly recommend this product!

I have kinky thick tight curls. I had a Japanese straightener done in my hair and my roots are growing out. I used the Maxiglide XP and I loved it! It got my roots and my hair looked beautiful afterward. It was easy to use and I am going out to buy the Maxiglide MP. As far as the bad reviews I have friends with the Maxiglide and they love it too and they have owned theirs for two or three years. I am not disappointed.

Just purchased the MaxiGlide Steam ceramic straightener almost two months ago. My hair is thick and subject to terrible frizz in humidity. If I don't set my hair, I abandon hope for any smooth hairstyle.

Now, I just air dry my wet hair, then take twenty minutes to steam straighten with the Maxi Glide! Caught in the rain after styling, my hair remains smooth and in place.

I like my Maxi Glide!
