I've never tried this straightener, but I have heard GREAT things about it. One of my friends told me her hair stayed straight, and had no friz, or wave, even after she went out in the rain, after using this straightener! Her hair is full of curls. If it works that good on her, It'd work that good on me!

I can't wait to try it.

I love it. I have never used anything like this before. I have curly hair & I have a choice now between curly or straight. I have told everybody about maxiglide & my daughter in-law went out and bought one & also loves it.

I am used to a CHI hot iron and thought it was the best thing until I tried this. Not only does it straighten my ethnic hair in large amounts, it keeps it looking great for a day or two without touchup, even in the damp or humid weather. I absolutly love this iron and would recommend it to everyone.

I have pretty straight hair and just bought the iron to make it even more straight and smooth, it is crap. If it doesnt work on my hair which has never been color treated and is very healthy I don't think it can work for any one I spent 90$ on it and it sux!
Hope no one else makes the same mistake.

Another infomercial mirage

I bought the Maxiglide two years ago and it hasn't failed to perform any more poorly today than it did two years ago, despite several reviews that read that this product dwindles after a lot of use. The problem is that it doesn't straighten my hair as well as I wish it would. I have wavy, long, and frizzy hair and only after I wait more than 2 weeks to straighten my hair and the weather is dry does my hair straighten *perfectly*. If you're impatient or in a hurry, you'd probably find the time it takes to heat up, constantly having to refill the water gauge, and it's general ability to straighten to be burdensome. I also find it too bulky to give my hair any "flips" or "curly" styles but that's probably because my hair is too thick. Obviously, it works for some people and does work for me sometimes, so it's not that bad. It's just not worth more than $50, in my opinion.

I was impressed the first time I used it, I was pleased that it worked just the way it did on the infomercial. I'm a black woman who has soft, curly/wavy/kinky combo hair which is not always easy to keep frizz-free; especially since I live in SC. I've had my since 05 and it still works very well. If yours is falling apart, I believe u can return it and get a new one w/in a 5yr time period. If it's not working for u at all or makings ur hair dry, there may be some other issues goin on with ur hair. Anyways it's the best flat iron i've ever had.

my hair is ULTRA FRAGILE! it's thin and curly, damaged from color & bleach! this iron is the only one that I can use! I do use a little of the hair protector from Sally beauty(it's orange).. real cheap! I take real good care of it. i always empty the water reservoir and wipe it down. i don't leave it on forever! I tested to see what the best temp. setting was for my hair, going only as high as needed. I store it in a plastic container once cool. All this has kept it in excellent condition for 3 YEARS!!! I even straighten my friends' hair! She has dark, thick, kinky latin hair. That is recovering from Kemo Radiation. It's even more delicate than mine. Works amazing!!! Def. a must try!

Maxiglide's performance is very good, so I bought one for my daughter as well. However, after only 1 year - it is beginning to fail. The blue light will not stay lit, and the handle will not stay aligned in order to clamp together properly. The electrical cord is the type of wiring that has hard-bent tangles (not flexible) and I notice that it has begun to fray at the base of the Maxiglide (probably the reason it does not stay on). I am considering buying another one, but considering the deficient electrical cord, the short-life span (only 1 year)& the high price,.... I will look for a new product first.

Its always taken me over an hour to straighten my hair. Between having to blow it out straight then iron it, it was very time consuming. I had seen the maxi glide on tv and was a lil scepticle considering it was tv. I just got it today and it really does work. I did read other reviews but I think it depends on your hair type, especially if its damaged. My hair hasnt been falling out and I used other anti frizz products that worked fine for me. Yes your hair has to be tangle free but you cant expect it to work in a head full of knots or tangles-thats just not realistic. I got salon results without the paying the money. It is slightly heavier than you avergage iron but you get used to it quickly and when you see the results it gives, the weight is so not an issue. My hair is pin straight and softer than ever. It was the best investment ever. I couldnt be happier.

I really like this iron. I am growing out my perm and it works really well for me. my hair is straight as if I permed it. MaxiGlide is heavy and you have to get use to get, but all in all it works for me. I plan to buy the smaller one. Try it if you don't like it send it back! Thats my Op!

I find it to work just like any other iron

It straightens your hair just like any other iron. The only difference is that it has a comb plate (which pulled my hair) and and it gives out steam. But even with the beyond straight serum I still have problems with my hair frizzing up. I have just about given up on my hair. The maxiglide is good but it's not how they describe it on the TV IT IS heavy, a bit bulky especially if you have small hands, it takes a while to get used to it, it DOES get hot, I tried the balloon thing and it popped. I already burned myself a couple of times. But yeah it does straighten your hair!! I won't say to buy it or not to buy it because as weird as it may seem it works differently on everyone. So you decide if you want to try it: after all you do have a 30 day money back guarantee.

I hate this straightner it made my hair look very dry. Doesn't look smooth and my hair is not even curly! The straightner is also very heavy to use. Not worth it. Wouldn't recommend it.

Flat irons only flatten the curls. This actually straigntens your hair. I will buy again and again. The best one I've found.

I have tried other hair straightners. This one is the best for me. I live in a semi-tropical location and humidity is horrible here, but with this straightner I can keep my hair straight for at least 2 days. If you have been using the straightner for a long time, it might be a good idea to take of the comb plate and give it a good cleaning, this should keep it from pulling your hair. I don't use expensive serums and it works great, with that new dove anti-frizz serum. (I can't remember what its called but it is in a white bottle with a blue pump top).
