Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening

Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening is an innovative new technique from Japan to make frizzy, curly or wavy hair completely straight while preserving the hair's health. In the past, people were concerned that if they straightened their hair, they would damage it significantly, and this was true. It is not true any more. Hair can be straightened much more effectively with the Japanese Liscio techniques with much less damage to the hair.

Japanese Hair Straightening typically will improve the hair's feel, softness and shine while making it more manageable!

What is Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening and its History?

The first question we are usually asked about Japanese Hair Straightening (also called Thermal Reconditioning) is "Why do the Japanese need to have their Hair Straightened? They already have straight hair!" Actually this is just not true. Many Japanese have wavy or kinky hair.

How is Japanese Hair Straightening Done?

Japanese Hair Straightening is a fairly involved procedure. It can take between 4 and 8 hours to complete depending on your hair length and volume. Salons in LA charge upwards of $500 USD to do this procedure. You will be happy that Aoi Beauty Studio does not charge that much!! The Liscio Hair Straightening System & Shiseido Crystallizing is as follows:

  1. Assessing the hair type and condition.
  2. Washing the hair.
  3. Applying protein to the hair, if necessary for the particular customer and hair type. (small extra charge for this procedure, if you don't do this when necessary, you could end up with a less than satisfactory result, the stylist will tell you if this is necessary or not in your consultation)
  4. Applying Solution #1 (this cuts the hair's "Cystine Bonds" - the bonds that hold curl or wave patterns).
  5. Testing to see when the hair is ready to have Solution #1 rinsed out.
  6. Rinsing the hair.
  7. Eliminating some excess moisture in the hair (blow-drying to a certain point).
  8. Ironing the hair in extremely small sections with a special Japanese Straightening Iron that reaches temperatures of 180 degrees Celsius. Don't worry, this will not damage your hair unnecessarily.
  9. Applying Solution #2 to the hair after ironing is completed.
  10. Rinsing the hair and conditioning.
  11. Drying the hair and applying a flat iron to remove excess moisture if necessary.

I just hair my hair straightened last week at "Hudson Hair", Haircutters in the Meadow. Yes the salon is not pretty. I was a little nervous when I saw it!!! but I was ready to get straight beautiful hair. I went very early in the morning, 8 A.M., which eliminated any contact with Rob the owner, as he came in around noon. Malou did my hair. My hair was very frizzy, curly at some points, wavy at others, just a mess. Today, my hair is silky, straight, shiny and gorgeous. I had a great experience there. Aside from the salon being fancy free, I can't say enough about Malou. She knew what she was doing. She was thorough, took her time and gave me great results. (I was there for 6 hours) I would go and see her again. There was someone else getting their hair done next to me and her hair looked just as great as mine. The Liscio system really is the best and not many salons use it. Instead of going into the city and paying double the price you may want to consider it.

I am a salon/spa owner in the Phila area. I finally found a consumer safe straightener that does four services, straightens, frizz kills, hair tamer (removes 50& of curl), and soft curl(turn tight ringlets into soft s waves). It has no formaldehyde, no thio it can overlap other relaxers, it can be used on color treated and hight lighted hair. I am so happy with this product in my salon I became a distributor. Questions: MScuz@aol.com The name is Caribbean Dream Retexturizing System Stay away from these harmful products!! When you shower you are breathing in those fumes, they stay with you!! I think salon owners are financially married to these products that's why they still do them. Get smart, if you are dying for straight hair, you just might. CARIBBEAN DREAM IS A DREAM!! Maria

THe only good thing about this salon is Joanne, who does a GREAT color on my hair. She's super nice and adorable.
However, the owner Rob had diarrhea of the mouth. He NEVER shuts up; whether he is talkign to an employee, a customer or whoever. and he is a belittling Mr know it all to his employees. The salon is MORE ugly thatn before the "renovation" . The guy has no taste. I wish Joanne would leave --- or maybe i can get her to do my hair on the side, outside of that hell hole.

On the Liscio web-site which seems to have just launched, there is a salon finder where you can search for the salon in your area.

HI,

I RECENTLY HAD MY HAIR THERMAL RECONDITIONED AT HUDSONHAIR IN SECAUCUS, NJ ALSO KNOWN AS HAIRCUTTERS IN THE MEADOW. PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT I HAD SPOKE TO THE OWNER ROB AND INFORMED HIM OF ALL OF MY CONCERNS. HE ASSURED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS THAT I WAS A PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR THE SERVICE. HE CHARGED ME $25 TO HOLD THE APPOINTMENT IN WHICH IT WOULD GO TOWARDS THE COST OF THE PROCEDURE FOR ME TO FIND OUT FROM THE ASIAN GIRL THAT DID MY HAIR THAT IT GOES RIGHT INTO HIS POCKET AND THE STYLIST GETS NONE OF THAT. SO HE RIPS THE CUSTOMER OFF FOR $25 ( OH I'M SORRY FOR ADMINSTRATION FEES WHICH THE STYLIST SAID IT'S B.S), THIS IS THE 1ST PROBLEM. THE 2ND PROBLEM IS THAT HE TELLS EVERYONE THEY'RE A CANDIDATE EVEN WHEN THEY ARE NOT. THE 3RD PROBLEM IS YOU LOOK AT THE WEBSITE AND YOU THINK YOUR GOING TO THIS UPSCALE SALON AND ITS DIRTY (VERY), SETUP MAKES NO SENSE, HE TREATS HIS WORKERS VERY DISRESPECTFUL (VERY) CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY PUT UP WITH IT. THE 3RD PROBLEM THE STYLIST SAID SHE WILL DO IT BUT MY ENDS WOULD BE A LITTLE FRIZZY AND IT WAS A LOT. SHE WAS VERY HONEST WITH ME AND SAID THAT SHE HAD TO PUT A LOT OF PROTECTANT ON MY HAIR AND THAT THIS WOULD STILL NOT MAKE IT PERFECT AND IT WASN'T. WHEN I MADE A COUPLE OF COMMENTS TO ROB ABOUT WHAT HE HAD TOLD ME, HE WAS SO RUDE. HE CARRIED ON LIKE A FOOL. I TOLD HIM HE SHOULD NOT HAVE TOLD ME I WAS A PERFECT CANDIDATE AND HE SAID THAT WELL YOU DON'T KNOW UNTIL YOU COME IN AND TAKE A LOOK. I WAS FURIOUS BECAUSE ON THE PHONE IT WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. HE WAS OBNOXIOUS, NASTY, RUDE AND NEED I SAY HIDEOUS TO LOOK AT. THE LAST AND MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEM, MY HAIR. THE EXCESSIVE DAMAGE TO MY HAIR, THE ENDS ARE DRY, FRIZZY AND BREAKING AND MY HAIR KEEPS FALLING OUT. I HAVE TALKED A COUPLE OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAD THEIR HAIR DONE IN THIS SALON AND THEY LAUGHED AND VALIDATED SIMILAR EXPERIENCES. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS SALON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
