After reading Asma Ahmed's comments here I went to the beauty choice salon. Apparently they did not do a good job on my hair. I ended up with some straight and some kinky, frizzy hair. They quoted $160 on the phone and I ended up paying $200 for TR on short hair and they made me buy products for another $100. Now I will go back tomorrow to show them my hair. I definetly do not want to pay another dime for fixing it because they should have done it right the 1st time.

I highly recommend Beauty Choice Salon located on Bellaire Blvd. in Houston. I have very curly Dominican hair. I spend a lot of money getting my hair blow dryed every week. Until I discovered Joyce and Patrick. They are amazing. I still can't believe that I have straight hair. If you are in the area and looking for japanese straight hair for under $200 bucks- this is the place to go.

Hair Village in Queens is great. Prices range from $150-$180. you can't beat that. I've done the Liscio Hair Straightening 2 times and I know plently of people who have also gone there. People from LI, NJ, and the city all go to this place because that is basically all they do. its not a 4 star place but they do a great job. get there early because it gets crowded.

I have been doing the Liscio Japanese straightening for 3 years now. I have long hair and I have only had to do it just once a year. My hair is healthy no split ends no breakage. I go to a lady in Chinatown New York. She is excellent. Her prices depend on the length of your hair $180. to $220. but she is worth every penny. I don't know the name of the salon but it's at 179 Grand Street in Chinatown. Her name is
Isabel, 212-226-6450.

I've been having the Liscio hair straightener done for over two years by Alizabeth at Cush Salon in Los Angeles on Robertson just south of Wilshire. She does an amazing job and I've never had any breakage. It costs about $500 the first time and $300-400 for root touch-ups (includes haircut and blowdry). It's a lot for me to spend although not that much considering it's L.A. and now I have the shiny, straight, full-bodied hair I've always dreamed of. Well worth it!

I know people who have had this done, over a period of time there hair gets thinner and thinner, dry looks horriable. Looks beautiful at first. My hair is natural curly, but is healthy. some women would rather have straight strings hanging from there head, than real hair

I got my hair straightened at Hudson Hair also with Joanna. She is great, but Rob is not. My hair actually turned out ok... (I had previously lost a huge chunk of hair before at another place). My hair is really dry now - any suggestions on what products to use now to get my hair soft again?

I actually shelled out about $400 for japanese hair straightening to go to Indulgence day spa TWICE in river oaks, and both were not the results I had hoped for, meaning I still had to spend time trying to blowdry my hair straight to get the curl out. I have now been going to Joyce, who owns her own salon on Bellaire Blvd., in Chinatown (Houston, TX), and she does an amazinggg job for about 200 bucks. Her salon is very clean, and they built it in 2005 or 06, so everything's really new and contemporary. I have been going to her now since 2003? So It's been about 5 years, and probably had about 6-7 treatments since I usually go 6-9months apart. I prob had the most nappy hair our of anyone I know.. and my hair literally feels like silk now.. I have posted about her before actually, and only keep continuing to do so because nothing has made such a huge difference on my hair despite my numerous attempts to tackle the frizz for years. I now can walk right out of shower, comb it real quick with a wide tooth comb to get out tangles, and my hair dries lookin like an asian women's hair; healthy, shiny, and straight. I have really long hair, and she charges about $200. If you aren't satisfied with your results, they actually do it again on you and only charge you cost of chemical, which I think is less than $50. Joyce and her husband both double team you to work on your hair, which works well, since the process is very tiring, and so there is always one person tending to your needs. Most the time you are just sitting there letting the chemicals soak up into your hair, so bring a magazine, or Joyce will let you watch movies or TV. They'll even order you lunch if you get hungry. Joyce and her husband are super sweet. Heres her contact info: Beauty Choice Salon, 713-988-2688, 9198 Bellaire Blvd ..Good luck! - Asma -

I had my hair done with Sunny at Haircutters in the meadow also know as husdonhair. My hair in the front and in back broke off at the root! I went there with my fiance and rob saw my hair and was like when you get the straightening there will be breakage. I had a bald spot! They didn't even give me a refund. Stay away!!!!!

Today was the third time I get my hair japanese straightened, in China Town, NY, using Liscio products. My hair is healthier than it has ever been. My hair is naturally frizzy and not pretty at all. Now my hair is shiny and straight. Many people are worried their hair will dry out but I think the day to day drying is what damages hair more than just one day a year of chemicals.

I just hair my hair straightened last week at "Hudson Hair", Haircutters in the Meadow. Yes the salon is not pretty. I was a little nervous when I saw it!!! but I was ready to get straight beautiful hair. I went very early in the morning, 8 A.M., which eliminated any contact with Rob the owner, as he came in around noon. Malou did my hair. My hair was very frizzy, curly at some points, wavy at others, just a mess. Today, my hair is silky, straight, shiny and gorgeous. I had a great experience there. Aside from the salon being fancy free, I can't say enough about Malou. She knew what she was doing. She was thorough, took her time and gave me great results. (I was there for 6 hours) I would go and see her again. There was someone else getting their hair done next to me and her hair looked just as great as mine. The Liscio system really is the best and not many salons use it. Instead of going into the city and paying double the price you may want to consider it.

I am a salon/spa owner in the Phila area. I finally found a consumer safe straightener that does four services, straightens, frizz kills, hair tamer (removes 50& of curl), and soft curl(turn tight ringlets into soft s waves). It has no formaldehyde, no thio it can overlap other relaxers, it can be used on color treated and hight lighted hair. I am so happy with this product in my salon I became a distributor. Questions: MScuz@aol.com The name is Caribbean Dream Retexturizing System Stay away from these harmful products!! When you shower you are breathing in those fumes, they stay with you!! I think salon owners are financially married to these products that's why they still do them. Get smart, if you are dying for straight hair, you just might. CARIBBEAN DREAM IS A DREAM!! Maria
