Japanese Hair Straightening System

LISCIO - The First Japanese Straightening System

To respond to the desire of clients to have straight hair, Milbon introduced Liscio in Japan on 1996. Unlike existing relaxers with active ingredients based on Hydroxide and lye, thio-based Liscio is more gentle for the hair thereby straightening the hair while leaving it in wonderful condition. Milbon was the first manufacturer to receive Japanese governmental approval for its unique thermal reconditioning system. Liscio contains a specially formulated solution and iron, which protects and repairs hair from heat damage.

In 1998 Shinbi International brought Liscio to the US and has developed the product and procedure even further to enable the process to be performed on just about any client that walks through the salon door. With added protein treatments and supporting products for the thermal reconditioning procedure, it is not uncommon to hear clients proclaim that their hair condition actually has improved after the procedure. We at the Peter Louis Salon are confident that our line of products and unique techniques will meet your desire to have beautiful straight hair.

YUKO SYSTEM "Japanese Straightening"

Activator Solution Difference - While the main active ingredient is the same, YUKO system only has 1 solution strength, which doesn't allow for customization for individual client's hair.

No Protection Cream System - Yuko System doesn't have protection cream system so highlighted hair or hair that's been previously relaxed cannot be processed.

RUSK STR8 "Thermal Reconditioning"

Activator Solution Difference Same thio based activator. However, it does not contain any heat protecting ingredient. So it is likely that hair sustains damage during the ironing procedure.

Iron Difference - Unlike Liscio, which has customized thermal iron for thermal reconditioning with different features, Rusk Iron doesn't include these features. Most importantly, its lack of temperature control doesn't allow for processing various hair in different conditions that can lead to burnt hair.

Furthermore, the iron lacks an evenly heated plate, which lessens the effect of the ironing procedure.

No Protection Cream System - Like the Yuko System, Rusk doesn't have a protection cream system. As a result, the same limitation in processing the hair from Yuko system applies to Rusk.

Procedures such as I-straight and Paul Brown are similar to Rusk in its active ingredients and supporting products. In comparing results and solution content, its comparable to the Liscio straight variation system. However, the Liscio system is still superior to these systems in a lot of ways due to its versatility of use and restoring formula.

BIO IONIC "Thermal Reconditioning"

Activator Solution Difference the main active ingredient is not thio.

Iron Difference Uneven heating plate on its irons can cause damage to the fragile hair during the thermal reconditioning.

Additional Maintenance Bio-Ionic clients are required to purchase a special brush and blowdry to maintain its straight hair while other systems do not require such purchase.

I am a hair stylist that also has the japanese straightners done on my hair. I have been doing a lot of research on which is the best kind to use and would like to try Lisco. I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to purchase this product and how much it costs. I would like to offer this product in my salon instead of the products I currently use. Can anyone help me with this?

I'm a hairstylist and have done the bio ionic cl****years ago and hated it. Can the Liscio system be used on ethnic hair that has been relaxed with another base and still get the same effect? If so where can I take a class?

@curl to straight
I am mixed race, part african american, part hispanic, part some other things, and I've got exceptionally thick wavy hair (but not proper Afro-American). I've had it done, the results were fantastic.

BUT, I got A LOT of attitude from hair dressers saying how they don't do black hair and how the process may not work on black hair and so forth. (they didn't even bother to consider I might be mixed race) Really ruined the experience, and I'm not looking forward to going through it again...

But I will, b/c it looks great and makes hair a breeze to manage.

It really depends on what kind of hair you have, some african american hair is less kinky than others.

Good luck.

I went home to the Philippines and i had my hair go through the japanese hair straightening system [called 'rebonding' here]. From very frizzy, limp, awful looking hair i now have hair that looks very healthy! like Jennifer Aniston's! It is definitely worth the wait!
If you happen to vacation here, call me and ill set you up with a fabulous hair stylist who does home service....ginna2000@yahoo.com

The Japanese-Liscio really does work,a family member of mine had it done and her hair was wild, dry, thick, wavy, bushy, frizzy, and more. Her mother took her to Regis Hair salon in the Oakwood mall in Gretna, Louisiana to have it done, it was $500 dollars and it took her 5 hours because her hair was long, she always wore a ponytail, but now I am sold because I my self has had hair like this for 42 years, and I am going to have it do so I can finally get away from the ponytail thing my self. It really does work very well, oh ya one more thing I am a white female, but this does work well on black females as well. It is worth every penny.
