Ionic Hair Straightening
Developed in the 1990s, the Japanese hair straightening treatment Ionic Hair Restructuring (IHR) is designed to straighten and improve the manageability of curly/frizzy, dehydrated, damaged and coarse hair. It works by allowing water molecules to penetrate into the core of each hair to rehydrate and recondition.
Treatment involves shampooing, spraying with an ionic protector and a pre-treatment spray, which restores the protein and moisture content of the hair. A relaxant cream is then massaged in. The main treatment is then applied which involves the use of a special iron on every strand of hair before drying with an ionic hairdryer.
Treatment takes around three to four hours depending upon the length and condition of your hair and effects are permanent, although you can have a retouch every four to six months as your hair grows.
