Ions are the latest technology in hair styling appliances, and are advertised to leave hair softer, shinier, and less frizzy than older equipment.
The Definition of an Ion
Ions are atoms that have gained or lost an electron and bear a charge of energy. Positive ions have lost an electron and are considered unhealthy. They are found in dust, smoke and other toxic substances. Negative ions have gained an electron and greatly assist in a body's mood, energy level and overall health.
What is ion Technology?
Ion technology is a stream of ions produced by the device which are blown onto the hair in the air stream. These ions separate free water molecules into micro drops (Smaller drops) which are easier to dry which means less time that the hair is subject to heat. Also these microdrops are more easily absorbed by the hair producing more hydrated healthier hair. These negative ions also cancel out the harmful positive static charges created from brushing the hair.
ION technology lets you straighten hair in half the time and condition while you style. Ion Technology uses negative ions to neutralize the positive ions found on the damaged hair, allowing the hair to lay flatter, smoother, and absorb more moisture for versatileheat styling and straightening.
Because negative ions break the positive charge on the hair that attracts dirt and bacteria, ion technology works to freshen and deodorize hair. It helps to remove odours from hair and reduce bacterial formation, resulting in a healthier scalp.
