my hair is naturally very wavy/curly, a lot of people tell me they love my curls but i hate them! i want to get japanese hair straightening but i am afraid it will come out really damaged and frizzy. some people say it's healthy for your hair, others say it's bad for your hair. i don't know who to trust!

it seems to me that most of you that want it done are 12, 13 and 14... ur still children n i think you should stop trying to change urself n be happy with what you have.. i have long thick curly hair n i love it because i can change my hair style when ever i want, it doesnt take alot of work to get nice curly hair... instead of using gel and moose to make it non frizzy, i put loads of conditioner in it and it stops it being frizzy, makes it shiny n really conditions it and gives my hair a break from straightning. even if you think that chemically straightning ur hair will make it fall out, well jus straightning ur hair everyday will have long term affects and ur hair will fall out any way...i think that you shouldnt have it done... it seems like more hassle and money to only last a few months

I have thought about this procedure, but am concerned as my hair is very fine and curly. It looks thick but its not and I also suffer with psoriosis on my scalp so the chemicals may cause more pain. It takes about an hour to straighten and 20 mins to go back to curly:o)I wish there was a better way...

Finally my hair texture is a dream come true. I always yearned for straight, sleek, glowing hair since i had wavy hair. I tried several treatments but was not satisfied....finally brazilian keratin treatment from Global Keratin did the trick. My hair never felt better. Global Keratin's hair treatment was simply amazing and it is formaldehyde free. hence i had a totally chemical free treatment and my hair is so full of volume and bounce. It looks very healthy and glowing.
I recommend this treatment for all who have curly hair and who wish for a healthy transformation.

I got my hair chemically strightend. at first i hated it. i lost all volume to my hair. but my hair was alot stirghter. the whole point of thi process is to reduce hair strightening time..I did loose some hair in the process buta couple weeks after your hair returns to being normal and stirghter.

I have rediculously thick hair which is also curly...instead of wasting money getting it chemically straightned, i bought a CHI flag iron (1 inch). It costs about $80 but it works like magic. It gets my hair as straight as a pin and stays straight usually until the next day. It is amazing and it is so worth the money. Since its ceramic, it doesnt damage your hair nearly as much either. Leaves it all soft and shiny. :]

my hair is naturally curly and frizzy. it takes forever to straightin my hair and it comes out straight but.... its like really volumized and not how its supposed to be. i want to get my hair chemically straightened but my mom said that i shouldnt do it because its really bad for my hair. she got hers done but it didnt work.. but her hair is wayy curlyer than mine. so idk if mine will come out differently?? and the person that does my hair is also my aunt said that i should wait until puberty was over.... but idk why it would make a difference?? and like what age would that bee?? also my hair never is how i want it i never leav it down its always in a ponytail. or the closest it gets to down is half up half donw and the down part is ingulfed in gel. but whe n i try to leave it totally down covered in gel it looks really different and really ugly. so idk what to do with my ugly frizzy big hairr

I have a question that I need an answer to! Well, my mom just said that I could get my hair chemically straightened. I want one that will not make my hair dry, fall out, or look nasty. I'm african american and I naturally have really curly hair, so i'd like it to make my hair silky, as straight as it can get it, and shiny. Plus it will last me about a good 4 months or more and it will be cheap. Sorry im asking for alot! I'm not snobby or anything i'm just desprate!!! If you know any chemical straighteners that have all the quailitys I asked for in them then please list them! PLEASE!!! Or email me them at spanishgirl123@gmail.com
THANK YOU GUYS WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL!!!! :D

relaxing your hair is really an extrememly easy process. i did for the first time by myself and my hair comes out straight everyday after i get out of the shower. YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXTREMELY CAREFULLY though if not u might burn ur hair or it might just fall out overall this is a great thing to do and remember to follow directions(:

I had my hair chemically straightened for the first time when i was 15. I have extreme ethnic hair, it is naturally thick, curly and there is a lot of it. It used to take me half an hour to blow dry it then an hour or longer to straighten it after a shower and even then it would boof in humidity. After the treatment, i blow dried for 5 minutes and it was straight with one or two wavy ( not curly) hairs, id run the straightener through it gently and quickly and it would be straight and silky. I did the treatment again at 16 and am 17 and doing it again tomorrow. The regrowth comes back wavy but it looks good sometimes. I prefer to wait a year between each touch up so that my hair relaxes and the results are as amazing as the first treatment. The few months before my next treatment, my hair does become much thicker and I can think of two solutions for this; 1. I make two pleats out of the under layers of my hair ( they are hidden ) and proceed to curl or straighten the rest, this is very effective as it allows me to work with curls without my hair looking huge. I have done this many times and no one ever notices, 2 of my friends know and they laugh about it but they agree it doesn't show, and 2. get the Brazilian keratin treatment in between chemical straightening. this will be more expensive as you will be paying for more treatments but this is effective because (from what i have read) the keratin treatment can be done on chemically treated hair and is GOOD for the hair. it will straighten your hair and make it fine but it is a WASH OUT treatment that lasts up to 3 months depending on how much you wash.
I hope this helps, I am happy i have thick hair but it is SO hard to manage so I know how it feels to just want it silky straight. There is also a shampoo by Paul Mitchell called Super Skinny and it helps make thick hairs finer.
Good luck girls! xxxx

I would just like to say that if you're worried about losing ur natural hair you dont want to get your hair permanently straightened. if youre questioning getting youre hair straightened b/c of this then you probably will regret getting youre hair permanently straightened. There are many risks you take when you expose youre hair to these harsh chemicals that the process involves. Youre hair will lengthen and become brittle, it may fall out, lose its color, become frizzy rather than straight, have waves in some spots and pin straight hair in anothers. These are just a few of the things that may happen to you if your hairstylist is not well informed or you are not informed about proper care of your newly treated hair.
